Join us in celebrating Black History Month on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Joe’s Movement Emporium!
The Taratibu Youth Association (TYA), in celebration of it’s 5th Annual Black History Show presents, “Perceptions and Truth,” a look at the our beginnings and the contemporary roles young people are made to live, play or survive in. TYA uses several genres of dance, West African dance, modern, hip hop, step and the South African Gumboot, to deliver messages of strength, solidarity, empowerment and hope. An electrifying end to the evening, features Grammy-nominated Carolyn Malachi. She will join the group for her piece, “Free Your Mind,” a fusion of jazz and upbeat rhythms with a message of growth and social responsibility. This is truly an event to not be missed!
