Taratibu Youth Association (TYA) joins more than 4,400 approved organizations recognized by the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capitol Area (CFCNCA). The campaign gives federal employees an opportunity to designate organizations that align with needs they feel are most important when making charitable contributions.
“The Combined Federal Campaign is the nation’s largest and most successful workplace fund raising program designed to give federal employees an opportunity to support the non-profit organizations closest to their hearts—and we are delighted that we can be a part of this tradition of giving,” said TYA Director Arla Scott.
According to livestrong.com, dance can benefit kids in a number of ways:
- Improved overall physical health. Dancing is a highly physical activity and kids who participate in dance have improved strength, endurance, and flexibility.
- Socialization benefits. In addition to being a physical activity, dancing is also a highly social activity. Dance can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation, and make new friends.
- Educational benefits. Becoming a skilled dancer requires practice, discipline and focus. These are skills that can be useful in other areas of kids’ lives, like helping them develop an appreciation for the arts. And, kids in dance typically tend to perform better academically.
- Improved self-esteem. As kids adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-esteem also improve.
The CFCNCA campaign kicks off September 1 and concludes December 15, 2012. To designate Taratibu Youth Association for charitable contributions, federal workers should select no. 37334 when completing their CFC donation form.
